Aston Villa Football Academy 1st match report – vs Derby County FC (League) – Monday 24th May 2021

Monday 24 May

Villa travelled to Chesterfield to play Derby County in an important league game. A scrappy start to the game however, Villa were clearly the better team. Good footwork from Sudeys Moalim on the left-hand side of midfield lead to Lewis Smith putting a cross in for Holy to head home. A great header off the bar and in. 1-0 villa.

Aston Villa started to dictate the game with more combination passing around the Derby team with ease. Good pressure up top from Dan and Holy won us a corner. Lewis’s corner was cleared straight back to him and a first time cross found Jack Cleary who powerfully headed it in the back of the net. 2-0 Villa with 10 minutes left in the half.
