COURSE OVERVIEW 
The course is designed to provide a specialist work-related qualification in the financial services sector. It is assessed by completing a portfolio of evidence achieved by researching, working in groups, preparing reports and presentations, creating tables and charts, working on accounts and evaluating and analysing data.

AIMS OF THE COURSE

The course gives learners the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life and to allow access to employment opportunities in the financial sector. The specification is designed to appeal to learners interested in a career in finance.

STRUCTURE AND CONTENT
Certificate in Personal and Business Finance (30 credits)
Assessment of Certificate:
Unit 1: Financial Services for individuals
Unit 2: Business Financial Performance
Unit 3: Financial Services to Support Business

Subsidiary Diploma in Personal and Business Finance (60 credits)
Assessment of Subsidiary Diploma:
Above three units as per the Certificate plus a further three units from modules such as:
Unit 4: Financial Services Regulation, Ethics and Trends
Unit 7: The Business Environment
Unit 9: Preparing for Career Progression in Business

ASSESSMENT
All BTEC Nationals are internally assessed and externally verified. Learners can achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction.

WHERE CAN I GO AFTER COMPLETING THIS COURSE?
This course is intended to form the basis of progression to Level 4/5 courses, but is also career-orientated to assist those going straight into employment. Some students will progress to professional courses in banking, accounting and business or progress onto a degree programmes in Finance. Some other students and some may enter employment in the finance sector.
